CiviPlus has a comprehensive Membership Management module built in. The system provides a wide range of features, including:

  • Support for different membership types and pricing structures

  • Membership can be inherited through relationships for family and corporate/organisational memberships

  • Highly flexible online application and renewal forms including credit card, direct debit processing with rules based upgrade and downgrade

  • Support a wide range of instalment configurations (i.e. annual membership paid annually, quarterly or monthly)

  • Support for joining fees and annual renewal pricing increases

  • Full support for high volume direct debit processes

  • Automated emails and reminders for renewal and direct debit payments (and also paper processes)

  • Engagement scoring

  • Comprehensive membership reporting

Memberships can run from a day to a lifetime, they can be free or paid, and have simple or complex pricing structures. They can be set up to auto-renew where a compatible payment processor is enabled.

Key automations within Membership include:

  • Signup online with system offering correct membership based on rules

  • Integration with application processes when joining online

  • Automated communications at any point in the membership journey including renewal reminders.

  • Sophisticated renewal rules to move members between rates: i.e. rate increases at year end, ending discounts or end of junior/student membership

  • Automated in arrears management where the system can send automated comms to members in arrears based on dates of overdue invoices with eventual automated lapsing of memberships.

  • Members can pay for single invoices online by Credit Card even when on a Direct Debit plan.

The articles in this section describe how to configure the Membership module, and how it can be used within CiviPlus. There is a separate set of articles about configuring and using Membership within the Self Service Portal here.
