In PlusCMS, creating and managing content is made easy with the use of content types. Content types are templates that define the structure and format of your content.

Each content type can include different fields, such as text, images, and links, which help you organise and display your content consistently across your site.

Understanding content types is essential for anyone new to PlusCMS as it forms the foundation for adding and managing content.

What is a Content Type?

A content type in PlusCMS is a predefined structure for a piece of content. Think of it as a blueprint that specifies what kind of information can be added and how it will be displayed. For example, PlusCMS comes with content types for Blog posts, Resources and another for events.

Each content type can have its own set of fields, such as title, body, image, and date, tailored to the needs of that specific type of content.

Common Content Types

Here are some common content types you might encounter:

  • Anchor page: Typically anchor pages are used as landing pages which link to a selection of related pages in the site. These are very flexible pages and can include additional features such as dual column layout.

  • Basic Page: Used for static content that doesn't change often, such as an About Us page. Typically includes fields like title and body.

  • Event: Used for listing events, including fields like event name, date, location, and description.

Understanding content types is fundamental to managing your PlusCMS website. By using the predefined structure of content types, you can ensure that your content is organised and displayed consistently, making it easier for your audience to navigate and find the information they need.
