Creating name badge layouts
It's very easy to create customised event name badges in CiviPlus. These layouts allow you to automate the printing of profession badges using the data already stored in your system.
Firstly, in order to create the name badge layout navigate to Administer -> CiviEvents -> Event Name Badge Layouts. Click the NEW BADGE LAYOUT, and complete the form that is shown:
The Title field is used to identify this particular name badge layout from the drop down list when you go to print the badges. Label Format is the size/shape of the badge - typically these relate to standard label sizes from printing supply manufacturers such as Avery. The Description field helps you understand more about the badge label if you have many of them in your system.
You have the option to put two images on the name badge, as well as a picture of the participant (if it is stored against their contact record). The Image (top left), Image (top right) and Use Participant Image control if and where these images are placed on the name badge.
Underneath any images you may have specified there is an area on the badge with up to up to 6 rows of information pulled from the contact and event records. If you click in the first column for each of the rows you can specify whether the row is to be skipped, a spacer inserted (i.e. the row is shown but without a value, or you can select from dozens of values retrieved from the contact/event record. These are actually the same as the tokens that you can use in Message and Mail Templates - in our example we are showing the Event Title, Event Data and the name of the participant. For each row you can decide on the font, size, style and alignment by using the dropdown options.
The Barcode checkbox allows you to add a Linear or QR barcode at the bottom of the name badge.
The Enabled check box can be used to hide this name badge layout until it is needed, for example just before an annual event. The Default checkbox will mean that this name badge will be the default when selecting from a dropdown list, and finally if checked the Reserved option ensures that administrators do not accidentally delete the name badge layout.
Click the SAVE or SAVE AND PREVIEW button to check what the format will look like.
